HI i have been for a hearing test at my doctors and have to go for more indepth one as my hearing is terrible, i struggle to hear people talking in groups or anywhere if theres background noise and its been like this for years
Anyways my question is, is this common with diabetics, does anyone else have similar problems with their hearing and if so what treatment /advice where they given

Deafness is a very common feature (75%) of the weird form of diabetes that I have - maternally inherited diabetes and deafness syndrome http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition/maternally-inherited-diabetes-and-deafness. It might be worth asking your GP/consultant to test for it. But of course deafness is a problem whether or not it's related to your diabetes, so it's a good thing you're getting it checked out. You can get excellent nearly-invisible hearing aids on the NHS these days if you need one.

well the good news is don't need a hearing aid, however my test did show i cant hear high pitches but apparently it may be just age related (i'm only 45!!) so have to go back now every 3 years
