Diabetes and menopause

Hello
I’m newly diagnosed with really high readings , hba1c 137 . I’ve never had any indication of diabetes before so I think having just gone through the menopause and having prostrap treatment last year for endometriosis has maybe hastened it . But I just want to sort myself out now and be as well as possible . Has anyone any tips about coping with menopause and diabetes ?

What type of diabetes have you been diagnosed with and are you taking any medication for your diabetes?

Hi Chelle58, Welcome to the forum.
Can you tell us which type of diabetes you have? It will help people to give the correct advise.
I also got diagnosed whilst still in menopause, horrid isn't it trying to cope with so much going on. At that time I tried with the help of my doctor to get the menopause under control whilst also trying to change my diet to help my diabetes. Get a little personal fan for meno and I'd suggest getting a blood sugar monitor and test before meals and 2 hours after, so you can see what spikes you. It may also help with the meno to sort out your diabetes.
Good luck ((((hugs))))

Thank you for your replies . I’m type 2 and yes I’m on metformin and avorstatin . The nurse has given me a blood sugar monitor which I’m using twice a day just now . Good idea about testing 2 hours after meals . I’m determined to get my diet under control . I lost 2 stone since Xmas and that’s what made me ask for blood tests (I actually thought it was thyroid as my sister was diagnosed with that at menopause .) a bit shocked with diabetes diagnosis tbh but hey I just have to work with it now
