Doreen - Do you take steroids for your pulmonary fibrosis?
I am not on any medication for my pulmonary fibrosis as my consultant says there is nothing that he can give me.

I had my recent yearly review for my pulmonary fibrosis/interstitial lung disease and the specialist said there were now a couple of drugs available but that they only slow progression. Since mine has been stable/non-progressive (touch wood that continues!) since diagnosis, I don't see the point in adding a drug to the mix. My original specialist's opinion was that the side effects of the drug are probably worse than the disease itself.

I have Type 2 Diabetes - take Insulin,Metformin,Dapagliflozin. Have High Blood Pressure - take Ramipril,Doxazosin. Have High Cholesterol - take Atorvastatin. Have Aneamia - take Ferrous Fumarate. Hi Johnty

I've got type 2 diabetes, but I also have epilepsy, asthma, COPD and Bronchiectasis (another lung disease), and sleep apnoea.

My diabetes was only diagnosed two years ago, and caused purely by all the steroids I was given over the last 20 or so years for various asthma attacks or chest infections.

Can't have one without the other, it seems

Johnty, I could not blame you for these diverse illnesses with Chinese Food. I hope your doctors send you to specialists. Best wishes.

Oh dear.....after reading these posts I count myself lucky in a way. I have severe copd, underactice thyroid and a sthma just to go along with being type2. I also su ffer from depression and receive treat ent for this. Normally I cope on day to day basis but sometimes feel as if I'm drowning in symptoms but hey ho I'm here still. Get out in my scooter or chair with partner every day. Just dread the dark mornings and dark nights..grrr

Hello fred1234, I have heard that long-time use of steroids can have a link to Diabetes. I did think that of mine, cos I was using steroid based creams for a skin condition that I have had for 42 years. But, no my Diabetes was inherited I am sure of that. What I don't like is all the other "ailments" I have to contend with as well. But, then one has to deal with them each day and pop the pills to keep them under control. Hope you are having a good day up in Edinburgh? And the weather is allowing you to get out and about. Regards, William.
