Probably a strange question, I wondered have any of you noticed any sort of link between an increase in psoriasis as you got higher levels of blood Glucose eventually ending in Diabetes.

My Psoriasis started about 8 years ago, about the same time I was told I was Glucose intolerant, and it has very gradually increased over the years possibly alongside my Glucose levels increasing, through to the point where I am now a confirmed Type 2 Diabetic, and the Psoriasis is a distinct daily problem.

Any wound I suffer, (eg) cut/scrape/gash that lets blood flow, seals incredibly fast, a deep cut across a finger seals within minutes, and smaller cuts just disappear as if they were never there, again within minutes, it makes getting blood from my fingers using a lancet application pen very difficult most of the time and I have it on the highest setting, apparently that is the Psoriasis doing that, also strains sprains heal quick too, and any bone damage such as breaks or fractures have added on extra bone growth to those areas at quite a rapid rate.

My blood circulation is good, pinch a toe or extremity, and it immediately re flushes with blood upon release, generally sensation is good too, I do have a couple of numb dumb toes, but that started after my second major spinal surgery at L4/L5/S1 when they hit some nerves whilst clearing away the damaged ligaments and fusing some of the joints.
There is no discolouring or fungal growth on any of my feet proper or toes.

So there you have it, Any thoughts welcome, thank you

My father, who does not have diabetes, has psoriasis.
He has always found he gets a flare up when he is ill or stressed.

I find one of the symptoms of high BG for me is an exaggeration of any sour throat, runny nose, sports injury, ...
I wonder if this is what is happening with your psoriasis.

I gets it’s just another motivation/hint to keep our BG under control.

Mine does not flare up as such, it is just always there, really annoying, makes for being so aware of your condition, especially during summer when short sleeve shirts and such are worn, I just wondered if anyone else had noticed any co relation twixt the conditions?

I've heard Dr Bernstein say several times that almost all of the diabetics he treats have psoriasis as well as diabetes. There seems to be a strong connection between both diseases.

Never had it in my life right up until the point where I was recovering from diabetes. Once my blood glucose control got better, my lower legs and feet flared up with psoriasis. Only lasted a few weeks and cleared up with the help of Sudocrem. Followed shortly after by neuropathy pain that would reduce Chuck Norris to tears, but that’s a different subject entirely

Will you be telling the story?

Will you be telling the story?

Not planning on it. I’ve bored enough people with it elsewhere on these forums and don’t want to derail this thread

Short version is the better I got the worse my complications became. You know what pain is when it can bring a grown man to tears in the middle of the night
