Diabetes and Stress

I have type two diabetes, it was reasonably undercontrol until my last visit to the doctors today. In January my H1bc levels were whilst not as low as they could have been at an acceptable level, however I have seen a massive climb in them and got the obligatory lecture from the nurse along with the suggestion that they up my medication.

The problem I have is that I have done nothing really different other than deal with my husband who was diagnosed with cancer in Feb, he was very ill in January and eventually started chemo in March. In the meantime I am also dealing with a very stressed son who is doing A levels. I have lost 4kg in weight so was feeling rather pleased with myself.

Does anyone know if this stress could have caused this problem.

Very low about it all

Sorry to hear about your family circumstances Miche, yes stress can play havoc with blood glucose control and reading your post you have had your fair share of it of late, hopefully Daisy will be along shortly to offer you some advice.

Hi Miche and welcome to the forum

Yes, stress could certainly have put your levels up. I'm so sorry about your problems. This is the information that Noblehead was referring to, which we give to new members. I hope this will help you to stabilise and lower your levels. Ask all the questions you like as someone is always there to help.
