Diabetes and Toothache !

Hi @anna29 hope you are not in so much pain today ,,no one should have to suffer pain ...
Hope things are a bit easier ....kat

Update is finally got in and looked at tooth and gum etc .
Tooth is a middle rear large molar and in good condition .

Could be infection he said ?
We decided between us to try solve this via antibiotics and
much stronger pain relief .

If tooth still painful by 3pm weds (tomorrow) he will yank it out !
Made the appt there and then can be sure of availability .

There must be a lot of folk with teeth issues and problems out
in my home town .
Booked up solid - receptionists say .
Dentists is a 7(seven) dentist's practice - so its mega busy .

Was in bed by 9.30pm last night wiped out with the pain threshold .
Plus my Mito Chondrial condition (energy cell) caught up with me .
Tired out and well grumpy

Today pain just a tad easier - but not enough to leave tooth as it is .
Roll on 3pm tomorrow - I need it taking out !

On the BG levels - they have been troughing and peaking all over
the place .
Reached late teens and early 20's despite my insulin .
Goes to show pain and inflammation certainly does impact on the BG levels .
Cant eat much as too painful to do so .
So will have to watch and test for this more .

Thanks for all your posts and support - means a lot .

Glad the pain is easier, but as you say best to get shot of as if it plays up once sods law says it will come back with vengeance at some point, best of luck tomorrow. You have a right to feel grumpy and the bs numbers will sort once the tooth has gone, I suspect though it won't happen until the antibots get a hold.

True - don't want this pain back again 'ever'
So will get it (tooth) taken out .

Just got general standard amoxillyn antibiotics .
Hoping once tooth gone, pain and inflammation goes the BG
levels will settle back down .
Amazing what can and does affect the blood sugars though

That's a nice wide based antibot and usually takes about 24hrs to grab hold of infection, having said that just knowing its on board can make the pain easier, you may find the bs stay a bit higher whilst on the anitbots and take a couple of days to drop once finished, but then without the pain its easier to cope with the bs lavels

Had tooth removed , my dentist who has been a dentist for
over 25 years and only seen what I had 3 times in his career .
He took a pre-extraction xray and this showed 1 abcess only .
However on getting the tooth out he was amazed to find not 1 but -
3 abcess sacs hanging off each root !

I asked him - am I your fourth ?
No the third he replied !

No wonder I had been in so much pain with 3 abcesses

My tooth was a very strong deep rooted one .
Took him "ages" to wrench it out .
He said it was a real challenge for him too !
Important he got it out in one complete piece .

Face ache, gum nerve tender pain still with me .
Sweating a lot so am under MORE amoxillin antibiotic cover .
Hope no more underlying infection or severe pain

BG levels are still hitting the roof and generally feel unwell
and rough .
Slept a lot yesterday after the dental surgery was done .

Be a few more days before I should feel better and much improved .
Still feeling wobbly and wet sweats a concern at the current time .
Plus nausea and no appetite at all .

All I can do - is let time heal me

Ouch, well trust you to be greedy, no seriously, I'm glad you've had the tooth out no wonder you were in such pain, and yes I can understand the sweats etc you poor body has had a nasty shock, not only that you still have that nasty infection running amok, and the nausea and loss of appetite won't be helping, my advice if you can do it apart from the salt water mouth wash get lots of rest have warm drinks and sleep if you feel like it, its your body's way of keeping you from overdoing it and laying yourself open to more trouble.
Take care.

That's a nightmare toothache story Anna and I really feel for you. Good that it's been removed now though and hopefully you will feel Much better in a day or so. Lots of rest and TLC is your latest prescription x

Glad to hear you have had tooth removed and are on antibiotics ....what pain you must have been in ...
Get well soon ....Kat

Also I think you have been very brave with the denist ....
You deserve a nice chill out weekend

Had a sleep again this afternoon .
Worn out with constant face ache

Been awake 4am with pain - due to pain relief worn off
So slept again this afternoon to catch up .
Inflammation still giving me grief with tender mouth and gum area .
Got sore mouth where dentist bruised and broke my skin with instruments

Be another 48hours till all settle down and ease more pain free probably .

Have after extraction check up appt booked for next Tuesday .
He wants to check it - as was large molar and deep rooted .
Left rather a large crater in its place .

Am taking all antibiotics to combat the infection 3x abcesses .
Yeah I had to be greedy @satindoll LOL

Face ache and gum area pain has been unbearable almost
Can totally understand the whisky bottle and pliers approach some folk
have resolved to use with toothache pain !
Almost drove me 'daft' with it all . . .
Never want to experience this EVER again .

Sorry to hear of your pain and discomfort anna, teeth and gums are a huge problem at times. Try and take ti easy over the weekend and hopefully you will be pain free very soon. Take care and once your tooth is sorted out, then your levels should be a little more stable. RRB x
