Just when I thought I was getting everything sorted, I had a letter this morning from the Doctor who says he thinks from my last blood test that I may have an underactive thyroid and wants me to start taking 25mcgs of thyroxine a day.

I have no symptoms of underactive thyroid, but my prolactin levels are raised ??

Anyone on thyroxin and a type 1 ? will it affect the diabetes control in anyway.

Advice appreciated. Please be quick before any other bits pack up.

hya fuji,
im also type 1 and have an underactive thyroid, my thyroid probs came first then the diabetes lol, ive found as long as my thyroid is stable it doesnt affect my bloods, im on 150mcg thyroxine now,
ya just seem ta get one illness after another(well i do)
if i can be of any help just shout

Hi my Son is T1 and we have been told from his blood tests he is showing symptoms of having an underactive thyroid, he goes for his diabetes check up in Jan and they,ve said they will prob start him on thyroxine. feels like one thing after another

As long as it does not affect my BG too much I am OK with it.

Its a bit of shock though, makes you wonder what is going to pack up next.

OR maybe the Doctors are getting a bonus on prescribing thyroxine

thyroid problems run in my family so i was destined to get it
dont know where the diabetes, asthma,m.e and menieres came from though

I found out my Granny also had underactive thyroid and like me she never felt the cold or slept properly. Best start researching the family tree to see whats next  although I am the only one with diabetes.
