Hey guys I've just started a blog on my journey with type 1 diabetes of any of you are interested here's the link

Lol some of the pictures are so funny, ahh it takes ages to get used to doesn't it!
 
90% of them are exactly what I think at the time as well haha.
Yeah it's a nightmare, just as you get used to something it decides to mix it up a little and change completely. I'm still yet to meet another person person with diabetes!
 
Hi Steph, there's actually a blog feature on this website now, in case you hadn't seen it. It's a brand new feature. It might be worth posting your blog here as well, so as many diabetics as possible read about your experiences
 
Oh god I no! Over Christmas I could not keep my levels up at all so I'm in the middle of changing insulin it's a nightmare I hate when it throws you something and makes you feel like you can't remember anything about being a diabetic! How you getting on with it all? Me either I just need to find a diabetic friend lol

I was doing fine but somehow had 10 hypos In he last 11 days :/ bit strange considering I hadn't had one for over a month before. I'm still trying to get to grips with it all though...a diabetic friend would be a godsend haha
 
Aww I hate hypos especially the night ones, I don't think I'll ever get used to it really there's always something.
It's just nice to talk to someone who's going through it to that's why I did this blog because when I got diagnosed I was searching the Internet for a site or something where people talked about what they went through and stuff because if something changes I always think is this normal have I done something wrong I'm gonna try write about something at least every 2 days of I can find the time between work and my little one
 
Luckily enough I've not had any night ones yet. I stayed as far away from the Internet as possible when first diagnosed just for the fact that I was finding all these horror stories which weren't helping at all. It's a lot better when you can actuslly speak to someone and they can relate.

I'll keep having a look for updates

That's probley for the best I was all over it lol. And your right all you find is the horror stories scares the life out of you some of the stories you hear.
 
It's a huge amount to take in at first, but it gets easier as you go along. My advice for anyone with diabetes is to keep a log of your blood sugars, along with food and exercise. Look out for trends (Are you going high/low at particular times of day?) and adjust insulin/food as necessary. I also advise watching a video on YouTube which answered a huge amount of my questions. For some reason my iPad does not want to post the correct link, so go to YouTube and search Dr Troy Stapleton. The video you want is one with a picture of different foods on it.
