Diabetes & itchy skin ?

Hello Again

Does anyone suffer from itchy skin? I get periods where I want to rip my skin off - just to stop itching. Result lots of little scabs on my arms and lower legs. Another member mentioned that they had the same problem - but were not sure if it was a medication reaction. Checked out diabetes and itching and found this link

http://www.diabeteswellbeing.com/diabet ... -skin.html

Seems it could be a yeast infection - which makes sense to me considering the high levels of sugar in my blood.

Anyone else got the same problem :?:

Hi Gill - I have answered your question on the "Another Newbie" thread - before I saw your post here. We were writing simultaneously  I hope what I said helps.

Hi Daisy
Thanks for posting so fast. On both threads! Thought I'd answer here. My BP meds also say skin problems as a possible side effect, But when I googled diabetes and itchy skin - there was a lot of stuff suggesting it could be a yeast infection - which diabetics are prone to. I guess when our sugar levels go high we start to ferment

Does our blood become alcohol then? I've heard the expression "too much blood in his alcohol stream" so maybe there's some truth in it.

Hi Again Daisy
When you think that alcohol is mostly fermented sugar and the yeast and sugar do the fermenting - it definately is work checking out candida -

Yeast infections could account for a lot of side effects - like the urinary infections I keep reading about on this forum and the itchy skin - going to read up on Candida and look at natural methods of treating it

Thank you for keeping in touch -
Gill
