Dear Colleague,
The Diabetes Research Network and other diabetes-related organisations have been working with the James Lind Alliance (JLA) to develop a method of prioritising research topics in diabetes. I am pleased to say that this has resulted in a major survey to gather uncertainties in the treatment of Type 1 diabetes, which will lead to a list of research priorities that will be agreed by both patients and carers, and healthcare professionals. If this initiative is successful, it may also lead to a follow-up initiative for Type 2 diabetes.
We now need your help in capturing what you consider are uncertainties in the treatment of Type 1 diabetes. You can help by taking the survey, or by sending it on to people you know who are affected by the condition. It is designed to be quick and easy, and you can send as many or as few questions to this survey as you feel necessary. Although it is designed as an on-line system, paper copies are readily available for anyone who might prefer to contribute ‘off-line’.
The Type 1 Diabetes Priority Setting Partnership has been set up by the James Lind Alliance and various organisations from the diabetes sector, including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Insulin Dependent Diabetes Trust, Diabetes UK, NHS Evidence, the Diabetes Research Network (England) and Scottish Diabetes Research Network.
• Do you have an unanswered question, or an uncertainty about the treatment of type 1 diabetes?
• Do you think that answering that question through research will help to improve the lives of people with type 1 diabetes?
This is a great chance to make your views on the treatment of Type 1 diabetes known. Please take the survey by visiting the link:
