You REALLY can do this. I made the decision on 12th Feb this year. Went on a low carb diet very little fat but with the help of this forum and trial and error I very quickly arrived at a low carb diet that suits me .Gave up all meds after 3 weeks (was on 2 metformin 4 Gliclazide 1 statin 1 Lisnaprill) Went from doing 9s 10s and 12s to now doing 6s I am 66 been T2 for 10 years. I also lost 3 stone 3 pounds .Believe me if I can do it you can .Get your GP on side and ask plenty of questions on this forum they really are a clever lot .Best wishes and good luck.
Well done. We all like to read good news. Have you started a toning exercise programme? It helps if the muscles throughout the body are working, it also means less saggy skin as the weight comes off at a steady rate. I found a series of online walking based programmes that I could do at home, so no gym fees, and I could start with 5 minutes and work up to 45 min.
I was the daft person who did not realise I was losing weight until someone at work commented on my weight loss! Now I watch the scales more closely and am slowly approaching my target weight. Be patient and think of the lovely new wardrobe you will have for Christmas.

Carina, you can do it. I have lost almost 6.5 stone over 4 years, and yes I now have a bit of saggy skin around my tum, but even with this level of weight loss, it's only small.
Certainly, the easiest part for me has been the last two stones since changing to an LCHF diet, exercise and intermittent fasting.
The satiety has been upped and I'm generally not hungry.

I have a question - now that you have got your BS levels to what you want them to be, are you careful all the time or do you have the odd pizza, mcdonalds, chips etc? just wondered and if you do, how does it spike you? thanks

Gulp! Kidneys won't like me for it, that's for sure.
Although my blood test all came back good, especially my liver one. Specialist is delighted. So am I.
Re-diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 16 months ago - (initially crossed over into type 2 diabetes in 2005). I use the low carb diet, nutritional supplements, and walking daily or every other day. Improvements continuing. Why not try? Nothing to lose, that's for sure. Oh, and cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL and LDL are the best they've ever been despite eating lots of healthy fats, though I do limit cheese to a few servings a week. My last A1c was 5.4%. Go for it!
I've used Avidlite occasionally for Sukrin products (sesame flour, bread mixes, or sugar alternatives), depending on the price as these are also available direct from Sukrin's UK website and via Amazon UK. I can't comment on Avidlite's other products as I mainly eat fresh foods, but the service was fast & friendly.
The Sukrin bread mixes are expensive but they are very low carb, quick & easy to use, and also quite filling so you shouldn't need to eat very large quantities.

PS @ickihun and @KevinPotts: I thin I could possibly complete the carbs, protein, fats addiction trio, as I think if anything I'm probably addicted to the fattier/oilier foods now!
Took me a long time to work this out, and it may only apply to me. I had the usual problem associated with Metformin, and while it became less frequent, it still occurred too often for my liking. The instruction label for me says 'take one tablet after evening meal' So I did. I then had some thumb twiddling time, and had a look at my diaries of food, exercise, and any observations. A pattern emerged, I had been following Micheal Mosely's 5:2 after a fashion, and still follow roughly a 6:1Honestly I do not know so hoping someone with more knowledge will come along and give you some answers - but I also have a lot of weight to lose - I have opted for the low carb high fat option as I am unable to stomach the Metformin on an empty stomach - makes me feel very sick for many hours - so I did not want to go down the fasting route. I take 4 Metformin a day 500mg per tablet.
I have increased my exercise recently and have noticed how much effect this has on my blood sugar readings.

I use the online walks by Leslie Sansone, in some of them she leads a group, in others she is on her own. there is variety in both length of time and activity. I also use a commercially produced small piece of equipment which has helped to keep my arms toned as the weight came off, not completely but I am working on it and it only takes a few minutes 3 times a week. When the weather is fine I walk outside, and now have several different walks to suit my mood and time available.Hi @Phoenix55, do you happen to have a link or reference for the online programmes that you found? I have to share this, it has put a smile on my faceI tested my BS before my evening meal tonight and my reading was.......5.9 I haven't seen this number since I was first diagnosed 5 years ago. I'm doing the Blood Sugar Diet with 5:2 and not only am I losing weight but most importantly my BS levels are lowering - long may it continue.
