I'm currently using a combination of rapaglinide, 1 / 2mg before a meal. Also pioglitzone 15 mg and dapagflosin 20mg on a morning. This was supposed to help lower my blood sugar and better control.
None of which is happening my hb1ac was 62 last time. But I'm sure it will be higher next time. Bloods next week.
I'm already on a low carb diet and exercise all the time.. not exactly sure what else I can do..
I was on glimpiride before and that seemed to work better in some way. But because my bloods went to 62 they suggested alternative meds
I use libre 2 to monitor my bloods and that says my current hba11c is 64
Hi @dwelldon , last year you said your doctor suspected type 1.5.
Any follow up on that? Have you had your C-peptide tested to see how much insulin you produce yourself?
@dwelldon , I’m not on the oral drugs you are on, but I did the very low carb diet for 9 months, hardly touched my blood sugars. Plus I lost a lot muscle mass due to the weight loss. I have not been able to gain that muscle mass back, but I do exercise to preserve my remaining muscles. I exercise, like 25,000 30,000 steps at a good pace a week. That translates to around 70 miles a week.
I would concur with the C-peptide test. A normal C-Peptide doesn’t rule T1 out. As I was told, once the autoimmune attack on your pancreas’ gets triggered (You have to be genetically susceptible to get T1) then those normal C-Peptides deteriorate as your insulin producing cells are destroyed.
Going back to see diabetes nurse next week. So will be asking about options.
I'm never over weight and never have been..so I've not got anything to lose weight wise.
