Hi all, I had my first diabetic eye test today, normal eye test also, yes I needed glasses for distance and reading, and then the bad news, I have diabetes in my eyes, to say that I was shocked and upset is an understatement, he tried to reassure me that it was mild, but I had still hoped for a more positive outcome, it just seems to get worse, what I want to know is will it get better or worse as time goes by.

Hi,

You were probably told that there was some background retinopathy. Even the best controlled diabetics get this result from time to time.
Reading through your posts I see that your levels are still quite high, correct me if I am wrong. Try to get your levels lower and things will improve for you. If it was anything serious then you would have had a further appointment made.

Is there anything we can help you with? There are several methods of diet used by members and if you need any help, please ask.

Hi Alison

Can only echo Catherine's post.

Bringing the levels is really the key to improve symptoms or complications.

If you can get them on track you should see an improved 'picture' (parden the pun) next time.

Stick with it Alison, it's hard at times but the worry of decline has spurred me on.

thanks for the replies, it does help to know people care, I am really trying to get BS levels down, took my reading two hours after supper tonight, and for the first time it was below 5, well made up with that, my hubby has been trying to reassure me that if it was anything to worry about they would have said, so I will just see how it goes, thanks again for your help
