When diabetic retinopathy affects the macula (the part of the retina that allows us to see things in detail), then vision may become blurred. However, there are other possible causes of blurred vision e.g. high blood sugars affecting the lens of the eye or irritation of the cornea. Where are the sores you mention? If you have ulcers on the eye, you should seek medical advice promptly. What are your blood glucose levels like? If they are very high, your blurriness should improve as you improve your glucose control. Have you had diabetic eye screening recently? What was the result?
