I purchased a premier cover for a short trip to New Zealand this year from Diabetes.co.uk . P J Hayman were the insurers. I had an accident before going and was unable to go. Put in a claim for £3,995 and received a cheque from them above for £2000 only. Is that right or are they trying to reduce my claim ?

Without knowing the details of the policy it's difficult to say, make a complain to the company involved and if your not happy with the answer get in touch with the Financial Ombudsman:

I'm afraid it would make sense to refer to your policy document, plus any other documentation you may have received when you took the policy out.
Alternatively, it could be worthwhile calling the broker and explaining the amount you have received is somewhat less than the amount of your claim, and they should be able to shed some light on matters. I do think that would be an understandable request.
They would normally tell you why the cheque doesn't agree with the amount claimed.
I suppose the question to ask is who did you pay for the trip, how much did you pay for the trip and how much were you able to claim from them for cancelling. Maybe the insurers though you were claiming £1995 from the people you booked the trip with. I realise that the later you cancel the less you get from the travel company.
