Just had latest Hba1c done and though i dont know the results as yet i'm guessing it maybe not too brill as i've been told the nurse is discussing change in medication due to creeping up blood sugars ( thats all the info i got when asked for blood results!!)
Currently take Glucophage SR and repaglinide and have bg's that can range from 4 - 14 , have eratic shift work shift patterns, so wondering if maybe should be asking to try a basal insulin, any thoughts much appreciated
I try and cut carbs down, but as i work in a job where i do manual handling and 12 hour shift then carbs are deffo needed at times
I agree that i cant expect meds to do all the work, but i find it hard to try and keep my sugars on an even keel, my waking bg today was 8.6, so i need to figure which way best tp go next :?: :?:
forgot to add that i'm noticing more n more that i am constantly hungry, even when my bg are high i feel like ive not ate for hours !!! Is this common as its really annoying esp as my bgs are so up and down !!
I find it is the carbs that make me hungry. You don't necessarily need them for energy even if you have a job that you do manual handling in.
I find that following the guidelines on this website http://www.dietdoctor.com/lchf I am less hungry and my BS is fairly stable. I also follow the rule that if the food is white (or could be if it wasn't wholemeal) then I eat as little of it as possible so this includes bread, rice, pasta and potatoes. The exception to this is cauliflower and dairy. Also a good rule for vegetables is that ones that grow above ground are best and to limit ones that grow below ground.
