Hello,

This is my first post.

I have been perusing this forum since I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes at the beginning of December 2011.

It was all a little daunting and overwhelming, however, the Diabetic specialist nurse has been wonderful. I've seen her 3 times since then and she has been in touch at regular intervals during this time.

My very first HbA1c reading in December was 12.6, then a month later it was 10.4 and yesterday it was 7.9.

I had been placed on a series of medications from the start: Metformin + Insulin, Ramipril and Simvastatin. I've been very fortunate that I've not had any real problems with any of the medications nor with the daily routine of testing and injecting and increasing the insulin dosage.

Yesterday I have also been prescribed Victoza. I'm hoping that I don't have many of the common side effects that seem to be associated with Victoza.

So far, this forum has been very educational and informative.

Thank you.

Babu.

hello, you'll get a more formal welcome in the morning when more people are online, but it's a friendly place, full of information, but your numbers suggest you're on the right lines anyway

Hi Babu and welcome to the forum It sounds as though you are making very good progress from your HbA1c test results and receiving good care. I hope Victoza works well for you. If you need to know anything about it, there are several threads about it in the Diabetes Medication and Drugs Forum. You will also find information on the other medications you are taking if you need to know something about them. Here is the information we give to new members and I hope it is helpful to you in making further progress. Ask as many questions as you need to as there is always someone here to help.

Thank you. I've already found a wealth of information on this site. No one in my family nor friends has diabetes, so it is useful to come here and learn experiences that other people have had.
