Before I went to bed last night my blood was 9.3 and I thought I would have woke up around 6 or 7 this morning but I was 15.0 I am wondering what made me go high because I never ate anything before bed. I am wondering if I went hypo in the night. It has happened a few times where I go to bed on alright blood sugars but then wake up and I am around 15.0. a few days ago I went to bed on 7.4 and I woke up on 5.0
Hello Jodie, I assume that you are a type 1 diabetic? Why do you feel that a pre-bedtime bs of 9+mmol/lt is an aright number? The second reading you have given is more of a normal figure and the fact that your first reading in the morning 5.0mmol/lt, is not low,but inside the good target numbers of 5-6.1mmol.lt, if you are using MDI as your insulin regimen. If you are this high pre-bed, what are your bs readings over a typical day time period?
Like sarah said, if you had gone low in the night and slept through it, then you'd
normally have a real stinker of a headache next morning. DAWN PHENOMENON + THE SOMOGYI EFFECT
It could also be down to the poor absorption of basal insulin before bed.
Huh, I'm waking up with a headache some morning, especially more recently as my blood sugar gets lower each morning (woke up at 5.2 this AM which is my lowest yet).
I've also noticed that as I get lower I get a headache, by lower I mean toward the mid-4's. But, mid 4's and 5's isn't hypo (is it?) so I'm assuming and hoping this is just an adjustment period while my body gets used to a normal blood sugar level?
Hi Governor, No mid 4's are not a hypo. A hypo starts at 3.9mmol/lt, this would be called a mild hypo. What you are experiencing at the moment is just your blood glucose adjusting back to a normal level.
just remember as far as hypo's go, 4 is the floor.
