Hi
I went for my usual walk in the evening, had my dinner with NovoRapid, Had Lantus 18 units as normal @ 9.00pm. Blood glucose was 6.7mmol/l before bed @ 10.00pm.
I woke up at 1.00am, pillow and head soaked in sweat, but no other symptoms. Is this a night time hypo ? I have so far not had one and I'm a bit scared as I went back to sleep without trying to treat it, my brain didn't engage with what could happen....best......Mark

I realise that. What I am trying to ask is is a night time hypo distinctive in its own rights and more importantly does your sympathetic response tell you something is wrong because if so I badly missed it.

Cold sweats are a common feature of both day and night hypos, but sometimes seem to happen more often at night purely because with a day hypo, you'll often catch it before it get's that far, whereas if you're sleeping, then there's a chance you'll miss it simply because you're sleeping. I've often woken drenched from head to foot and freezing cold. There's a wristband called Hypoband at www.hypoband.co.uk which measures temp and humidity on the wrist and alarms if it gets too cold and wet. I got one a few months ago but typically enough I've not had a cold sweat since then so can't say if it works! Maybe it's got some sort if weird placebo effect which stops them...

It'll obviously not stop a hypo because it only alarms once the cold sweat has started but I decided to get one anyway in the basis that it'll hopefully wake me early on so I can intervene before the hypo gets too deep.

I'm looking at some of the Libre hacks which make it alarm, some ingenious stuff out there.
