Hi all, hope everyone is well

I started hearing on the forum and gossips of the honeymoon period. For example, bad stereotypes like 'he is in the honeymoon period so no wonder he has such good control' etc. type comments from DSNs and consultants too who say it may get harder (sorry guys) - not about me just patients in general.

I work closely with a diabetic team in my work so this got me wondering does type 1 diabetes really get that much harder when you're past the honeymoon period? At the moment I am doing well on the whole, still have the odd mishap but I'm in the worrying about TIR phase and as a result have 80% plus in range. I am just beginning to carb count and use a ratio although many different factors can sway requirements and dosing, have the half unit pen.

How did everyone find the honeymoon vs. After? I think for me, there will never be anything like starting on insulin.. I was so sensitive to it and struggled so much with hypos when starting out.

Is there also anything I can do to prepare? I try my best to rotate, have posted about that before. I might try to use buttocks and back of the thighs to give my stomach a bit now a rest but haven't been hitting any fatty lumps for a while now. Thanks in advance!

Long may the honeymoon continue. I remember, 20+ years ago not needing insulin for about 10 weeks in my type 1 honeymoon . It was great and convinced myself it was all a bit of a mistake and I was cured. Inevitably my pancreas gave out quite abruptly, insulin requirements increased rapidly then steadied and remained broadly similar ever since.
