I feel if whoever has been 'hit' by uncaring, indifferent employers and you believe it is unjust and you are being discriminated upon, then try to go down the proper routes and fight your case as much as possible. But, not everyone wants to and it can drag out or it may even hinder getting another job.
It's shocking to see, as you so rightly said, that there seems to be a lot of discrimination in the work place regarding diabetes on the forum.
Good luck to all who want to pursue this, in what ever form, but I am sure there are other ways too
