Dizzy Spells On Metformin

Type 2
I've been diabetic for a year. And I'm very forgetful at taking my medicine (long release Metformin 1 a day) - I know...I know I should do better.

Been taking the Metformin daily for 10 days and last few days I'm feeling dizzy at night and early morning.
Checked my morning sugars - 5.0, 4.8 and today was 4.1
Checked my BP and it was 100/66

Anyone have any similar experiences? Anything else I should be doing?

I'm due to have my hb1ac test done next week as well so will share those here too.
 
Are you following a low carb diet? I'm sure I've read it can give palpitations and dizziness if not enough minerals taken to replace the high carb diet. Salt and magnesium is needed.
I don't get enough iron if I'm not thorough.

Nope no diet as such yet. Just eating normally.
I will get my vitamin mineral level checked
 
I actually felt dizzy and lethargic on Metformin, not sure if it was due to the very LC diet i started immediately on diagnose or not. I agree that you should get your vitamin,minerals checked as mine was low. Good luck.
 
Did check sugars an hour after eating was 6.8 - is that good?
My doctor isn't good at giving me any info when I was first diagnosed.
This forum seems to know more than him

Your mineral levels need checking before you consider the right supplements if foods are not providing them.
 
I’ve just “graduated” from pre diabetes to diabetes. Started on 500mg Metformin extended release 3 days ago and have felt very dizzy both walking down stairs or just my regular 5k walk. Does this go in time?
