In September '08 I was very stressed at work and working long hours. Within about 2-3 weeks I started to lose weight and my stomach was grumbling all the time. I was feeling anxious and irritable all the time. I had trouble sleeping and was sweating/getting flushed cheeks a lot and having heart palpitation a lot. I sometimes got a red spotty rash on my forearm which would disappear when I got my anxiety under control. I went to the doctors and he just gave me some tablets for IBS, which helped with my grumbling stomach. I have managed to control my anxiety and stress and the symptoms disappeared.
Since then, I have started to develop the following symptoms (noticeably worse after eating/drinking certain foods)
Alternate between constipation and diarrhoea
Unable to put on weight (despite increased appetite)
Irritability (worse after eating carbs and large meals)
Tingling in legs/feet/arms/hands (mainly when arm/legs are crossed or bent)
Joint aching/pain (shins/knees) and arms when raised for a period of time
Increased thirst
Dry mouth/lips
Increased urination (again, mainly after eating carbs/high fat foods etc... and at night)
Muscle twiching (arms/legs at night when lying on side in particular)
Cold hands/feet
Tiredness/weakness (mainly after eating large meals etc/being inactive)
Thinning hair/taking longer to grow
I am only 23 and had very high cholesterol about 3-4 years ago but haven't been taking medication I was given (stupid I know) and about 2-3 months before I noticed these symptoms I had 2 boozy holidays with friends, and drank a lot more than I am used to. In fact I rarely drink at all.
I have an appointment with my doctor next week, but just want some views, have I got diabetes? Will the length of time I have left it done more damage?
Steven.
