Do I need to stop LCHF


My gall bladder was a bag of marbles, and they were in the duct.... I can't remember all the details, but they did remove them from the bile duct, perhaps it was by blasting them in some manner. It's some sort of procedure, just don't remember what it was called.... camera on a tube inserted through the mouth and all the way to small bowel and they remove them that way, had that done before gall bladder removal... they can miss some because they can be tiny, but it was decided that the issue would just keep repeating itself so they removed my gall bladder and all has been well since.
 
Ercp I think it is. Yeah I was warned they miss some sometimes in the ducts left behind and it could be years before they caused problems if at all, or days.

It seems to be the argument “it’ll only happen again” that’s used to justify entire organ removal along with the fact we can manage without it. But a significant and permanent change in diet such as low carb high fat for diabetes might well mean it doesn’t reoccur and isn’t being factored into that decision or opinion.

If I could have found a way I would have kept my gallbladder and just removed the stones. Unfortunately I only found out about lchf and it’s benefits for avoiding gallstones 9 months after the surgery. Maybe if it were the other way round and I had gotten used to living against current ethos (ie t2 being progressive v diet allowing remission) I’d have pushed harder for the medication to dissolve them in the lack of any other method available. But I was scared by the “it could turn into pancreatitis” talk and convinced by the “it will happen again talk”
 
I had gallstones a few years ago, pre diabetes. Almost certain they were caused by yoyo dieting in the past (they created gallstones in rodents by dieting like this).
On the of diabetes I also had a fatty liver and raised triglycerides. Just over 3 months on lowcarb and my blood fats were fine and my liver function tests ok even though I still have weight to lose.

However, I did find when the gallbladder got inflamed that I couldn't eat fat - more than 8g in a meal and I'd throw up. And I've had issues eating a lot of fat in one meal ever since as my body can only digest smaller amounts. I have slowly increased the amount I can tolerate but make low carb work by still snacking a bit as fasting plus one or two large meals isn't for me.
 
I found this post very interesting. I have just read the NHS guidelines on gallstones and there it was, right at the end of it, 'Follow the eatwell plate' and the inference is you'll be fine, it cures all ills! It doesn't half make my blood boil when the 'lifestyle' advice is always that flipping eatwell plate. As far as I am concerned (and I am not a LCHF extremist by any means) is that anybody with no health conditions whatsoever will probably become ill by following that plate. It is mentioned everywhere as if it were the holy grail and yet it has probably propelled many people INTO bad health.

I had been doing LCHF for some time, well before the issues of gall stones started for me . So, whether or not it can saved by using LCHF I would imagine would depend on each individual case... like a lot of things I guess.

Can't get it back now....lol
