Ercp I think it is. Yeah I was warned they miss some sometimes in the ducts left behind and it could be years before they caused problems if at all, or days.
It seems to be the argument “it’ll only happen again” that’s used to justify entire organ removal along with the fact we can manage without it. But a significant and permanent change in diet such as low carb high fat for diabetes might well mean it doesn’t reoccur and isn’t being factored into that decision or opinion.
If I could have found a way I would have kept my gallbladder and just removed the stones. Unfortunately I only found out about lchf and it’s benefits for avoiding gallstones 9 months after the surgery. Maybe if it were the other way round and I had gotten used to living against current ethos (ie t2 being progressive v diet allowing remission) I’d have pushed harder for the medication to dissolve them in the lack of any other method available. But I was scared by the “it could turn into pancreatitis” talk and convinced by the “it will happen again talk”
