Moaning for moanings sake!!
Hi everyone, just a question about eating carbs, its now 7 months since diagnosis type 2. I have been very carfull eating a very low carb diet and have reduced my hb1 to 47 from 63. But a few rare occasions lately iv had a few chips & rice, small piece of cake and small portion of chinese (not all at the same time!!) And have found 2 hrs later iv been between 7-8. Does ur body tolerate carbs more as you get yr nos lower?

I think that is everyone's target.

I have a "test" occasionally with a Rye Bread I get from M&S. At first I couldn't eat it, then I could manage 1 slice, and recently 2 slices toasted with butter.

I'm still not able to eat "normal" quantities of Carbs so I am nowhere near the promised land of remission/reversal/cure that some claim, but my control is now excellent and I can tolerate a few more "select" Carbs than I used to be able.

It's all part of the journey.

Thats reasuri g, i wouldnt want to go back to the way i used to eat as i love full fat and loving being slimmer. But when out for lunch its nice to have a change without doing 2 much damage also taking advantage of lunch offers that are much cheaper!

Ditto (apart from the Rye Bread bit. I like the Lidl rolls too much! )

Hey Amanda, I was diagnosed around the same time as you and have also noticed a very slight improvement in my tolerance for some things. However I could not go back to eating as before, and like you wouldn't want to.
I have been pretty strict with my low carbing until about three weeks ago when my HbA1c result allowed me to relax things a little. So I have had a few, well quite a few indulgences.I am now concerned that my next test may be affected,so back to it.
I guess what I am saying is a few lapses are necessary to keep us sane, and reinforce the good changes we have made.So no need to beat ourselves up about it, especially if we can tolerate a little more of these things safely.

Cheers

Count yourselves lucky - I don't have a Lidl near me!
