Do your warning signs change when sitting/lying down?

Hi

Just wondering if other Type 1's hypo warning signs are always consistently the same or do they change?

I have noticed that my hypo warning signs can be less strong when I am lying down or sitting for extended periods. It's only when I stand up that I get really strong symptoms.

If I'm lying down (eg. at night) sometimes the only symptom I get is sweating.

I just wondered what it is that causes the difference in severity/amount of warning signs?

Thanks
Goji

My warning signs are normally the same; irritable, very tired, wooziness and inability to focus properly. I've found sometimes when I'm lying down I might start to feel funny, but I can't be sure if it's hypo or not so I stand up to double check before I test or correct the hypo. I certainly feel when I stand up my symptoms get worse so can definitely emphathise.

Strange when you think about this in depth - could it be something to do with your sense of balance and your inner ear? Or to do with the way your blood redistributes when you stand up? Obviously it takes more energy to stand than lie down!

mine change depending on the reason for the hypo

good question! I would say mine do change, when lying down I tend to get the sweats and trembles where as when I'm stood up, it's more likely to be hunger, blurred vision and confusion - I always think Mother Nature has a hand in all this, she knows if I'm in bed or lying on the sofa she needs to get me up so making me confused isn't the way forward, she needs to get me sweaty and shaky in order to get me moving!

Totally. If I'm sitting working at the PC for hours, I'll often not notice I'm hypo as soon as I otherwise wood - quite often it's when I stand up and go "oh wait, that's not right...". Strangely when I'm sitting driving or lying in bed, the reverse is true - I notice hypos almost immediately.

Hi
With me i have lost my awareness to hypos, but yesterday afternoon i got tingling lips and felt abit light headed don't know if it was just a one off but i seem to get very confused and tired more than anything which is mainly the reason that i don't realise im having a hypo. It funny because a couple of years ago my legs used to give way when i was walking and it would just happen all of a sudden no other warning, but this has'nt happened for ages they seem to change over time, but in a night hypo i do get very sweaty and when i have had hypogel or lucuzade it makes me feel very sicky
