doctor suggests i come off insulin after 26 yrs and well controlled

My father was stick insect thin when diagnosed type II, initially put of Metformin, then Metformin and Gliclazide and now insulin. Takes all sorts.
I agree not everyone (contrary to current 'news' coverage) was overweight at diagnosis. I take A/V metformin and weigh just under 8st.

A/V sorry stupid predictive text should read S/R

Just a little side remark, doccydoo, to '...diabetes nurse, not even a specialist'. Over all the 53 years I have been going to specialist diabetes clinics I have found diabetes nurses extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and they usually have more time for you than the consultants.
