Doctor's Fees

Your doctor may do this for nothing but they are entitled to charge as this is a non NHS request. The link below gives some idea of some charges but will vary from practice to practice.

I paid £10 once and nothing the second time. At the same gp. I would just phone your surgery and ask them. It's also worth typing the letter yourself and getting the doctor to sign it. It's quicker that way and they won't be able to leave anything out!

if you ask your diabetes nurse/centre

they will do one completely free!!

i got my diabetes nurse to write me one last year when i went to turkey. it had everything stated that would solve any issue raised and they did it the same day i rang and left it at reception to pick it up.

once more nobody even wanted to see it even when i said i have needles in my handluggage they waved me through!.. sods law if i didnt have one they would ask :lol:
