Hi there,
I will explain my situation. I am 24 years old 5ft9 144lbs, that might be overweight I am not sure. Anyway Diabetes runs in the family and I tested myself using my mums kit (clean needle) and my blood glucose level was 9.4(first thing in morning/fasting). I completley changed how I ate and started to eat better. 3 months later my weight has dropped to 132 and my level has always been between 4.2 and 4.6 (again fasting) No doctors involved. It just slowly reduced down and down.
Anyway just recently it has started to creap up and I have not changed a thing, it has only got to 6.8 but I can't seem to get it back down again.
Plus last week my brother (age 26) was rushed to hospital and has found out he is type 1 and has to inject 3 times a day.
So I know I need to get in. My doctors is open mon-fri. I am on a temp job 8am-5.50pm tomorow until fri. So I have booked in Mon morning (blood test/doctors appointment). (I know, I know, but its £600 I neeeeeeeeeeeed)
I think maybe I'm being dramatic as my levels are not that high. but I need some sort of advice to put my mind at rest. Like my mum/2 brothers and 2uncles are type 1 diabetic. I will probably follow suit. But catching it in early stages can I (with professional help) keep it under control so I do not need medication? Or will it just get worse and worse no matter what I do?
