Does anyone have any experience with Gliclazide?

Hi Everyone,
I've been a type 2 for 2 years now having previously had gestational twice. I was on 2 x 500 Metformin but at my last check 2 months ago my BS level was 14. My GP added 1 x gliclazide but my levels just seemed to be getting higher. Last week I have been increased from 1 glic to 2 but sugar levels still seem to be rising higher than they were before starting glic and can't seem to ever get below 18 now! My GP got me to monitor 5 times a day for 4 days last week and I also did a food diary(fairly low carb). He said he spoke to a consultant and by the figures I gave him I am definitely a type 2 and not type 1. I weigh around 8 stone so GP won't increase Metformin. They did discuss insulin but he says that there is now no rush as I'm a type 2 and not type 1. Does anybody else have experience with gliclazide ? Is there a chance it could actually be causing my BS to rise ? Thank you!

I am not experienced with gliclazide, but that will cause ur pancreas to release more insulin wen u take it. There is no way it can rise the sugar. U should ask for a c-peptide test. GDM can progress to either type 1 or 2, I think. If u r type 2, low carbing is the best. It will give ur pancreas some rest. But levels over 18 should not be overlooked. If u cant manage to get the levels down, u have to move onto insulin therapy. Try consulting ur doctor at the earliest possible.
