Re: Does anyone use or know of podcasts for diabetes educati
hi msmudge
like you i went rooting on t'internet for info and podcasts were one of the options. I did find a 4 part series (2 hours worth) that was very good about explaining it. It is US based, so somethings have to be "converted / translated" to relate to the UK terminology but thanks to this website and Diabetes for Dummies I got through and managed to understand what was going on better.
If Interested check out I-Tunes for "Diabetes: Into the New Decade" - it was first produced in the 1990s. If nothing else it describes how to do a blood sugar prick test - took about 10 minutes by the sound of things and involved coding??? Makes me glad that technology has moved on.
I also dip in and out of another series of podcasts called Dishing Up Nutrition with Darlene. (Again american - sorry) is pretty good and makes what can be a preachy subject quite good fun to listen to. (Well I have been inspired a few times).
Mostly I relied on books to teach me about type2 - I use Diabetes for Dummies as a manual for this pesky disease. Otherwise I rootle around on here and generally get by.
