Can anyone tell me if fats effect or higher the blood sugar ??,because I used to think that fats higher the blood sugar, but after long time digestion and really when I eat a fatty dinner the BG gets high the next day morning ,but my diabetes nurses, Consultant and on the internet they say it keep the BG stable or long time without lowering or getting too high
Yes, fats can raise glucose levels, not so directly but by delaying absorption of the carbohydrate but that is still in the short term. It also seems to increase glucose levels many hours later. This is thought to be because the increased fatty acids in the circulation act to increase insulin resistance. (so you require more insulin to keep levels in check)
Have a look at this page and video from the Joslin clinic. http://www.joslin.org/dietary-fat-can-affect-insulin-requirements-in-type-1-diabetes.html
