Does ferrous gluconate injections increase blood sugar?
Can you find a reference please?

Iron deficiency anemia typically results in higher than expected hb1ac so supplements to raise levels may lower an hb1ac.
Conversely excessive iron can give a higher reading.

OMG how can ferrous gluconate cause HYPOglycemia? It doens't make sense, some of the gluconate is supposed to be converted into glucose!
 
Can you tell me which one and where? I cannot find the word hypo in any of them nor anything that suggests that. Maybe I’m missing it so it would help if you could direct me

It does indeed! However I still cannot find any other document that supports that and don’t have time to search all the references in that document. Can I suggest if you still have concerns you look through each link in the reference section and find the source of that assertion it can cause hypos.
 
Which do you prefer, iron deficiency or the possible risk of hypo?
 
That's not the case, I am just astonished that gluconate is supposedly partially converted in glucose and yet it causes hypoglycemia
 
It MAY cause hypoglycaemia. Without seeing any sources we have no way of knowing how frequently that has been reported as a side effect or how it arrived at that conclusion.

Most reports state that raising iron levels if anything have a lowering effect on hb1ac. That’s different to having a hypo though. I’m assuming it’s something along the lines of having more iron in the blood means the glucose load is better “spread” so each cell takes up less glucose thus lowering hb1ac.

Being on iron replacement therapy myself (ferrous sulphate/fumerate pills not gluconate jabs) I’d like to see the sources. Maybe it’s just the gluconate version though. Out of interest where did you get your info about it being converted into glucose?
