Does insulin resistance worsen during perimenopause or menopausal phases?
I haven't changed my diet much...on low carbs...but hba1c on jan 28th was 5.8% and 5.7% on 29th jan( another lab).
Earlier it used to be between 5.1% to 5.4%(nov 2021 to dec 2022)
I think a lot of things are triggered by peri and menopause. My hair started falling out for a start and sprouting in other places - Desperate Dan comes to mind! On a serious note I have no idea to be honest if insulin resistance worsens due to per and menopause, but would also be intrigued to find out from other women on here
I had the menopause from hell, and still in my dotage suffer many of its symptoms, so I wouldn't be in the least surprised if it affected insulin resistance as well.
I came here to ask this very question. My meals that used to only bump 2 maybe 3 are spiking me up 4 and 5...same meals I've been having for years without an issue.
Maybe it's just a thing because I've had this for years and eventually it does become worse but it seems weirdly tied to when I started my perimenopause.
