does skipping meal raise blood sugar

hey guys do skipping meals make BG spikes I mean in my situation lately my schedule changed I sleep late so when I wake up by 3;00 /2;00 pm my BG is always out of range I did increase my basal by 1 unit 5 days ago it didn't help also I have a bad tooth im going tomorrow to the dentist can it be the cause because the spikes are so high i dont think its the tooth it goes up to 260 mg/dl ( 14.43 mmol/l) what should I do first increase the basal or fix the tooth if its the cause

the tooth visually dosent seem that bad can it really be the cause
