This is interesting Ruth3
My yorkshire terrier 'gracey' is a real scenter ...
She can tell if I am high or low blood sugared as the scent of my skin changes
I am very sweet smelling if high and more appley/pear scented if low .
She scrabbles at me to the point of annoyance when I am low blood sugared .
Once I was wanting to lie down all sleepy and not be disturbed either.
Gracey got under my chin and kept pushing my face upwards , when I pushed her away
repeatedly and wouldnt do it.
She then sat on me barking repeatedly till my hubby came into the room to see
what all the racket was.
Realised what was up with gracey and myself.
Then he rushed to my aid with glucose ...
So 'YEP' some dogs 'can' scent and tune into this.
Try giving Maggy a treat and huge cuddle when she correctly pays attention to you
if and when this happens.
Gracey has a favourite chew I always give her plus loads of cuddles and praise, when she
correctly sniffs out my highs and my lows.
This is done to cement the correct reaction to the differing scents she can detect in me.
Even hubby says I do smell sweet when high blood sugared but I am 'NOT' giving him a treat
when he notices this
Hope this helps?
Anna.
