Dolphins offer clues to Type 2 diabetes.

The dolphin may be the first natural animal model for Type 2 diabetes.
Fish may be a brain food but it does not supply the high levels of fuel needed to keep a dolphin's brain functioning. An insulin-resistance switch helps maintain glucose levels in dolphin brains suggesting possible clues to treating Type 2's

I've seen a little about this in the past and it really worries me. Dolphins are extremely sensitive to stress. Stress effects diabetes in major ways. I don't like the idea of findings based on dolphins that have been held in captivity (read stressed) being used as a basis for treatment on humans...
 
I agree with you, Patch. I think it sucks that we use animals to help us with research and figuring out the unknow. I wonder if something did that to us how we would feel????
