my wife was only 30 years young when told she was diabetic put straight on insulin and left to her own devices on asking questions the doctors told her "if i start explaining diabetes in depth it would take days and probably scare you to death " there wasnt the same internet access 16 yrs ago as there is now she was insulin resistant which wasnt really recognized back then so her suger levels were always out of control so with no proper support from docs or dns she though whats the point she didnt feel ill n the insulin made her feel poorly so disided to stop injecting she is now BLIND . has neuropathy .avd vomits at least 3 to 5 days a week... she is only 46yrs old and gets so depressed its heart breaking so anyone who is thinking of stopping there treatment take note it could happen to YOU !!!!!!!! " she stopped her insulin because she was worried that she had put too much weight on and now thats the least of her worries "

Thank you for sharing your story. It is a sobering post for all who despair of diabetes and feel like giving up. My thoughts are with you both.

I hate taking my insulin and have been tempted to stop to loose some weight. But I don't because I know how dangerous DKA is and I can't risk it as I have two babies.

My mother has badly controlled type 2 diabetes and has neuropathy in her feet as a result. Seeing her struggle with this also keeps me taking my insulin so I don't end up the same.

Hello Kocall, that is such a harrowing story, I do feel for you both. You have been so brave posting your wifes story, I was 31 when diagnosed, 24 years ago, many ups and downs, but always and still do, take my insulin and test my BS.

To you both, please accept my heartfelt wishes.

RRB x

Im sorry to hear that. I was diagnosed a month ago and I'm 14. I have poor control over my blood sugar levels and am very athletic. Because of the poor control i have sever nerve damage in y ears and have lost the majority of my hearing.

14 your'e still young love and the point im making is diabetes is a nasty horrible disease and unfortunatly you dont see the harm it does so it is so easy to ignore but trust me dont fall into this trap which is simply avoided by keeping control of your diabetes "Dont Let It Controlle YOU " x
