Hi I've been type 2 since Sept 11, I started off on 2 Metformin but then it went upto 2 Metformin twice a day an now since May 2013 I've been put on glicazide 0.6mg. I questioned a Dr I don't regularly see as mine was on holiday about informing DVLA and my insurance as I was on Glicazide. I was told as long as I test before driving and keep a record ill be fine and I won't need to inform both party's. My normal Dr has never told me this only to test my glucose weekly.

You must test before you drive if you are on any hypo inducing drugs such as Glicazide and make sure your levels are at 5.0 at least.

If you only drive occasionally you need to test before driving then every 2 hours on long journeys

If you drive a lot, then you need to have done a test within 2 hours before driving, then when it reaches 2hrs since the last test, then you need to test again
