Hey all... question..

I lost my driving licence (doh), so sent off an application for a new one.. sent with a postal order for £20 as that's the price tag for a replacement these days..

3 weeks later it arrives... yey.

few days later the DVLA send me a cheque for £20 with no explanation as to why?

the ony reason i can think as to why is that i'm on a 3 year restricted licence and replacements are free? whatever the reason for one?

is this true?

I tried ringing but everytime i call it says their busy and disconnects me. I work in the day and only have an hour to call them after work so can't try callling another time, and im curious why they ask for £20 then send it back?

I'm also reminded of how afwul my picture is :?

If you're on a three year licence then every time you get a new one of those, it should be free. However I'm surprised you don't have to pay for a lost one. Bonus!

I know, i only thought it was a new/free one when you re-new for medical.

The licence has an expiry of 1 year and 8 months though, which is the remainder of my 3 years so maybe that's why? maybe they see it as cruel to charge £20 for something that lasts so little time?

i really want to know for sure!
