Lucky! I have nurses in my doctors who always ask about my diabetes...whether they are clued up or not I don't know but they are great in my doctors they always push me forward because they know me so well ha! And my GP is lovely...just a bit old bless her! xI'm lucky in respect that my GP is a D specialist too..! ( or at least more tuned into it than anyone else.)
Is a DSN a diabetes nurse? Sorry if it's a stupid question, but since I was diagnosed in late Feb I've only seen the doctor once.. who gave me a repeat prescription for metformin and a referral to the Desmond course. That was pretty much all the contact I've had.
Well except for seeing my regular GP who switched me over to metformin SR because of the usual bowel hilarity. Which seems to have returned anyway.
A DSN is a Diabetes Specialist Nurse and they normally work in a hospital setting such as diabetes clinics, a DN is s Diabetes Nurse who usually work in gp surgery's, they are nurses with a specialist interest in diabetes, just the same as some nurses are asthma nurses or cardio nurses.

Although I think the GP I saw back in Feb may be the 'diabetes doctor' as she wasn't my regular GP.
Confused whats a DESMOND course????
It's another ruddy acronym...!
DESMOND - Diabetes Education and Self Management for Ongoing and Newly Diagnosed
Ah now I have never heard of that one only DAFNE lol x
I should have just googled it lol!!You can be forgiven.. It's a T2 thing.. Even I had to tap up the "Borg collective" to find out!

I agree completely @NicolaAnne1994, at best DSNs (in my experience) are a waste of space and oxygen. Often end up frustrated and angry after appointments with them!
They are weird really arent they lol!My nurse is really weird. She's sooooo nice and cuddly, but she seems like he knows nothing except the basic A-B-C...
And my dietician... she told me to increase my BASAL when I'm eating nuts, because they're low GI... Like I'm going to plan the day before, "hmm, let's take more levemir, I may eat nuts tomorrow..." 0_0
