I think I over-reacted a touch in this thread. I had an appointment last week with my GP, who then signed me up to our surgery's diabetic clinic which seems very good indeed. I think I'll be in decent hands here
Had my first appointment at the clinic today and all of my blood test results seem very positive. hba1c was 7.9%, blood pressure was fine, cholesterol was around 4 so they were happy with that too. Thanks for your advice though people
Yes, it's excellent that you have got it down from 10%
But....it needs to come down further as above 7% you may get complications if it stays that high for a long time.
You are doing a great job bringing it down and I'm sure is you carry on watching your diet etc you will bring it down to below 7 next time you have your Hba1c done. It is something to aim for.
Well done. That is great news. Sue is right, 7.9 is quite high, BUT, I believe that it is an average over the past 6 weeks, so it may be that the slightly higher reading is partly due to the days before you took control? If that is the case, you have done amazingly well.

Thanks for your advice guys. I had a appointment today and my hba1c was at 5%, which they are very happy with.
They have taken my medication down from 2x500mg Metformin per day to 1x500mg per day. Not sure whether or not to be worried about this, but will see how things look.
