Hi Everyone, can anyone tell me when people with diabetes had to let the authorities know that they have diabetes. I have been type 1 for 54 years, if it was on the driving license application form back in 1967 ( when i was 16 ) I would have put it down. I only found out by chance after loosing my driving license while in the USA after 18 years of driving, when I applied for a replacement licence, i filled in that I was diabetic and they went mad.
Also when did it become law to inform insurance companies, I informed my insurance broker back in 1967 and he said it didn't matter, but a few years later found out it did. As i was still with the same inurance I quickly had to find another so that I could drive leagally and not have problems with my old insurance.
Why don't DVLAS inform us about changes to the law concerning diabetes drivers.

That took a bit of finding!
