Newly diagnosed type 1 diabetics must educate themselves. The NHS will help you a great deal but will only provide you with a small fraction of the information you need to know after diagnosis. (the second one 'think like a pancreas' also provides information to people using pumps)

I'm sure a lot of us do educate ourselves :wink:

My recommendation for anyone newly diagnosed would not be either of those books. Though I do recommend Think like a Pancreas for someone using MDI but perhaps not immediately on diagnosis.
My recommendation for a book for. in spite of the title, someone of any age would be this one
Type 1 Diabetes in Children Adolescents .
Ragnar Hanas
It's subtitle, 'How to become an expert in your own diabetes' describes it aptly.
