It could make you any one of the manifold types of diabetic like T3C or 3E or Lada as has been said the use of insulin is not restricted to any particular type of diabetes.

How is anyone supposed to know what manifold types are like T3C or lada sounds like engine parts or cars you all like to think you know all about diabetes. In your wisdom can you explain what the phenomenon of the readings first thing in the morning are so strange cause it appears no one can answer .

Put "dawn phenomenon" in the search box at the top of the page

As for your first question you get your endogenous insulin production levels tested privately with a c-peptide test if your doctor refuses to test for it..this will give you a fairly reliable diagnosis which may lead to further testing.

By reading and studying and listening

Why so defensive and rude? People in here can answers your questions knowledgeably but may not be inclined to do so if you continue to ask so scathingly. Many of the people in here often do know a huge amount about diabetes having lived with it and also studied it from credible, medically reviewed sources in far more depth than nurses or gp’s. Admittedly they are less likely to have studied all the other non related subjects those professionals have, but the HCP don’t actually get a huge amount of training unless they choose to specialise in it, it may have been a long time ago and even then may not keep up to date with all the latest research and developments. They also until very recently were constrained by anti low carb guidelines whatever their personal views and still are in some respects.

Having the disease makes a lot of the members here much more motivated to become experts than an overly busy gp, who just keeps doing what they were taught to do many years ago or the latest drug company sponsored circular suggests. You can choose to accept this as true and learn a lot by talking to people in here and researching for yourself - often with help and advice from those who have already asked the same questions and walked the same path as you - or continue to disbelieve everyone you come across.

Up until the age of 28 yrs I lived a perfectly normal (ish ) life with no medical problems. Then I started losing weight, eyesight problems, infections, extreme thirst, extreme urinating. A visit to the GP and test confirmed that I was no longer producing sufficient insulin to keep me alive. At this point I was diagnosed as type 1 diabetic. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition where the body attacks and kills parts of itself. In this case my body was attacking my pancreas. Eventually I could no longer produce insulin and had to start injecting artificial insulin. All this happened at age 28 and not at birth.
If I had been diagnosed as type 2 that would have been a totally different scenario, type 2’s produce insulin, sometimes too much. Type 2 isn’t autoimmune. I’m not going to quote to much about type 2 on account it isn’t my area of expertise.
Very , very few type 1’s are born with the condition. A lot become type 1 early in life and contrary to popular belief even more are diagnosed later in life.
Hopefully this goes some way to clearing things up.

The rise in blood sugars in the mornings can be down to the liver releasing stored sugars into the blood stream to give you a boost to prepare for the exertions of the day.

Actually many of us don't, even though we may have had a number of family members decimated by it after a couple of decades of living with it...

But in forums like this, our shared experience gives us a better grasp of the related issues, especially the type of diabetes we have been afflicted with, because it has become rather obvious to us what didn't work...and find the common grounds for success.
