Hi does anyone else get excessively cold several hours after a hypo? I've just spent most of the afternoon sitting with two jumpers, a wool cover and finally my woolly hat on as could not get warm!! Lol I've also noticed I feel really cold sometimes in bed when I suspect I may have had a hypo. I was diagnosed as delayed onset type 1 last June so all a learning curve.
I have noticed that I feel the cold more after going hypo - and being cold made me more likely have lower blood glucose levels until I realised and made a point of eating extra if I was somewhere cold for any length of time. While insulatating clothes are important, I find that to rectify feeling cold, a hot drink (always carry a vaccuum flask in the hills!) and / or jumping until warm were m ore effective.
And, when I first got a partner after diagnosis (as a 30 year old, slow onset), I found myself wanting cuddles after a bedtime hypo, because of feeling cold
sometimes i get SO cold after a hypo there's nothing for it, i have to run a hot bath & get into it to defrost my bones! only ever been this bad on a few occasions but each time it's been after a night/early morn hypo. yuk!
Hi Imogen, as I mentioned before its usually my first Hypo sign and I have found the only thing that helps is to have a brisk walk or somethng similar, a hot bath is good or a thick coat lol ,this used to affect me for hours too even when my bs level was up afterwards, its horrid x
