Quick one regarding exercise. This morning I had a fasting level of 9.6 which is great news as its definately coming down. I went for a nice swim, got out tested and im 10.9 :O anyone know why this could be? X
Hi Jaxx, I'm by no means an expert in this but I've read on other threads that strenuous exercise can make the body dump glucose into the bloodstream for energy (which is pretty much what Jack said!)
Did you eat before swimming? As Jack said a snack would help, or better still your usual breakfast beforehand should help lower your BG.
I don't think there's ever a need to apologise for asking questions, we're all trying to get our heads round this and we all know that the information from our HCPs isn't always right for us. Ask away
Jaxx, can u tell when u checked after the start of exercise?? For the first 20 minutes ur BG will rise because of glucose dump into bloodstream. Then the muscles start extracting glucose from the blood stream & u will find sugars begin to decrease after half an hour &'the fall continues for hours after exercise
