So I have an instant pot (thank you @DCUKMod - I don’t know how I lived without it.

I also have this cookbook- thank you to whoever shared it because it’s a masterpiece.

today I am trying out the butter chicken in it.

wont let me add pictures again. Sometimes works sometimes doesn’t.
15 minutes saute then 10 mins pressure cooking. Then it will sit there till I want to eat it, stewing in its flavour hopefully.

on another note. Not sure if this is the right place. Can never quite work out which sub forum to post in. Soo many.
 
I did pork chops with an onion sauce in my instant pot last night you have to be careful though pork chops left on keep warm too long will become dried out and not quite so palatable. Worked out to about 9gm of carbs.
 
Did you know you can get an attachment that allows you to use the IP as an air fryer.

It's called the Mealthy CrispLid I am seriously thinking of getting one.

I didn’t. never used a fryer

John - I've had an airfyer a while now, so I'm not sure how I would feel about the lid option if I didn't.

I guess the only things I would think on the downsides would be that both funtions couldn't be used at the same time - curry in pot, bhajis in A/F, for example.

At it's current price point, there are probably a good number of standalone A/Fs around, although I do understand footprint and storage could be an issue.

I love both gadgets; so much so we have two IPs.

I do have an air fryer but we have a rather small kitchen so it might be a way of saving space but as you say while using the IP base as air fryer you can't cook with it but I just like gadgets.

Couple of things I have invested in apart from pans is a spare inner pot and a set of sealing rings of different colours for different kinds of food.

I would definitely get a second IP some time if I can.

My air fryer gets almost as much use as my IP it's great for cooking things like rutabaga (swede) fries or cubes and sausages and bacon and a whole host of other things can be cleaner and quicker than frying on the gas hob.

Lower use of oil also.
 

Bearing in mind the Meathly still needs to be stored, when not in use, my feeling could be better with both gadgets. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed in ASDA they have a small airfryer on their Rollback deals at £20, which includes a 2 year warranty.

For anyone, curious, and not needing large capacity, it's hardly a big gamble.
 
Isn't the selling point of air fryers that they cut down the consumption of fat? I thought fat was now deemed to be a good thing.
 
For me it's nothing to do with fat, things cook faster less power required and less oil means not as greasy and less oil bought also of course convenience and there are those for whom fat is not so good.

Though not often there are times I have the IP the Air Fryer the hob and the oven on the go at the same time.

To add though it is true that there are some who need high fat diets like those with CF.

There are plenty of ways to get adequate fats in our diets, without worrying too much about some rendering in the cooking process. Airfried chicken thighs, salmon steaks or fillets, lamb ribs and belly pork are all to die for, and still have plenty of fat, encased in fantastically crispy skin or crackling.
