Eye clinic recall

Hi

Tomorrow I go back to eye clinic as I have been recalled.

I know this could be absolutely fine but I have had to have laser to both eyes, yrs ago, and have been stable for at least 10 yrs. but I am so worried about tomorrow.

Family say I worry too much, but the one thing I have always been frightened of since being diagnosed t1 in 1984, was going blind.

Is it ok for me to worry about being recalled or am I just being stupid?

Hi Kat

Of course it's OK to worry, anyone would be anxious to be recalled. But it is a sign they are taking your eyes seriously, and if there is an issue they'll have caught it early.

Remember that when you were diagnosed back in 1984 there was probably not a lot that could be done if something went wrong with your eyes. I had that worry too when I was diagnosed. There was no laser then. Things are so different now. Lots of new treatments have been developed in those 30 years.

Hope the appointment goes well for you

Far from being stupid Kat, the two things I worry about first and foremost are my eyes and my cardiovascular health, every time I attend the eye clinic I worry days before even though I've been trouble free for 8 years now.

You say you've been recalled, had you attended the Ophthalmology clinic recently and they have asked you to come back or was something picked up during a routine screening?

Hello
Thank you for the replies.

I had my yearly screening at clinic 2 weeks ago. the letter says they have noticed some changes.

Its probably a bog standard letter they send, but after the laser I had yrs ago, I am very frightened. I am going with my mother in law so hope she stays with me.
