Eye Test Screening Results

Hi @wiseowl_123 .. excellent result. I'm seeing my Doc this pm (for the first time since diagnosis) and an eye test is on my list of questions ..

@wiseowl_123 . How nice to receive a positive letter. Makes a change from bills, flyers and cancelled appointments.
Well done.

Brilliant. My letter arrived Thursday (the day after getting a positive off my Glaucoma consultant so guess he knew). I was equally as delighted as you. Well done. i would have four months off eye testing but my wonderful GP cannot even get that right and I have a second hospital thinking they aregoing to be testing me for Glaucoma in may. GRrrr. Do Gp's get a payoff for referring patients?

@wiseowl_123 - congrats on your results - I am intrigued that you go to a special centre for eye testing - and wait for results - it's interesting how things are handled in different countries.

Here in Australia, I just make an appointment with my local Specsavers branch where I have always got my glasses for reading from - telling them of course that I have diabetes. I get shown the photos they take and told on the spot that there are no problems (so far anyway!) and then take a results sheet away to show the GP/Diabetic Clinic if they ask.

The tests are paid for by Medicare - our sort of - equivalent to the NHS - and you probably don't want to know that in the last 6/7 years of going there I'm pretty sure I've only ever seen Poms (as an ex one I can say that I think ) - a couple from south asian parentage - but all now apparently lost to your Health Services - unfortunately.

Good morning or is it your evening @SueNSW my friend, always go to specsavers a few weeks before my NHS eye test is due,I'm a belt and braces man and saves me waiting for the 4/6 week results to they do show yours truly all the images of the back of my eyes in detail, but for some reason the NHG won't except their findings, they do send the NHS images off to be viewed by 3 specialists and then the NHS results are sent to me,that's why they take from 4 to 6 weeks to reach me,I don't mind being called a Pom as it is short for Pomegranate and they are an exceptional fruit highly regarded by the rest of the world
